WESTERLEY VR races on RGT take place every other Wednesday evening and are fast and furious 16km races based on local roads around West London and the Chilterns. The races attract a global field and have been running since Spring 2020, one of the early success stories for RGT as e-racing began to take off.
Here we set out some of the big teams and individual stars to look out for in the WESTERLEY VR Race series. The team competition sees the two highest placed team members in each race score team points. So long as two riders finish then the team will maximise its potential points haul, but may field as many as four riders. The points awarded to each team member are the same as their individual points. 100 Individual points are awarded to the winner, 99 for second place and so on, down to 1 point for 100th place. So, a rider finishing, say, fourth would score 97 individual points and 97 team points.

WESTERLEY VRs ARE FOR BOTH STARS AND AFARS – THE 21 DONE CLUB CHALLENGE
Westerley VRs may attract top riders as shown on this page but are open to everyone. We expect mini-races to form themselves further back in the race and, unlike graded races, we believe that riders will gravitate to their natural groups and have just as much fun whether in the front group or further back. All riders score points, wherever they finish. But riders can still join an elite group by clocking up 21 rides and becoming a part of the elite 21 Done Club. DETAILS HERE
Everyone is welcome to enter a team too. Just email your team name and the names of 2,3 or 4 riders and we’ll add your team in. We accept both Internationally comprised teams as well as your club team, or made up of friends. Whilst the local club teams may not have the opportunity to match the top International teams, they are every bit as important to the event. Watch out for Glasgow United CC, a small but strong team with local riders who are likely to be mixing it nearer the top. Good luck everyone.
So, on to the peleton pin ups………

POCOMOTION (VIKINGS)
Team Pocomotion are built around Nick Giles’ Poco Loco enterprise but have reached beyond the United Kingdom. With five riders wishing to enter it was decided to split into two teams, one based around the Danish contingent. Having only two riders means that they will need to ensure they are both on the start line at each event to push the teams at the top. However, the firepower of Mads Schnoor Neilson is likely to see them hitting the front.

Rasio are a particularly strong team and are possibly the favourites, but it won’t be easy for them given the strength of the other teams and the fact that teams are allowed to substitute riders for new ones across the season.

In the Bees team, expect Tom Moss to smash it out of the blocks, Chris Duffy to bully on the flat tracks, Simon Miller to mix it in the sprints and Julian Fussell to be consistently in the mix across all terrains.
