The dawn of the 1980s was the cusp of some great changes in Western Society. It was the eve of mass ownership of computers and also a massive shift in the structure of Western economies that would see decades of growth and some great innovations in cycling technology. However, the monthly publication remained the way members were kept up to date.
The regular Bulletins listed Sunday club rides run by various local CTC groups as the club was still, essentially, a racing club affiliated to the CTC.
Although the Westerley Winter Warmer has become a large event in the local cycling calendar, back in 1980 the Westerley Reliability Ride, as it then was, attracted only a small number of brave souls willing to ride out. Chapeau to the fastest rider….Richard Burton.
